All of my publications, workshops, and even song events, listed together in a rather long list that is first summarized in a grid, can be found here.
Both of my recent books are free on The Archive, and elsewhere:
Project Do Better: Enough for All
and
Stayed on Freedom’s Call: Black-Jewish DC, with walking tours,
And
THEN:
Short Narratives:
some of my narrative nonfiction shorts:
A Wrap up from an incident at work, with three linked shorts, each describing a time when I was actually given the same respect that a man would get:
first at Annapolis,
second in Izmir (was part of this post on Parashat Bo…),
third, in Bath;
More shorts to learn by:
Never hit your elders in the jaw,
Should some of us not exist?
And then, the short that started them all:
Floating …
(and then, a post about historical cooperation between Americans, but in Spain…)
…
Then: Do Better: a Roadmap to a kinder society in about 70 years.
While this was a working book cover for Project Do Better, whose manifesto obviously now has a cover, but still needs a Project logo:

The book (or manifesto for Project Do Better, actually) Do Better, is done, as seen in the first link above, and needs helping hands for publicity, reviews, and project and community organizers.
If you are interested in reading, please leave a comment here on this Page, or on the publication link.
Then,
And then, finally since I cannot bear not to mention my fiction work that has gone neglected for so long:
My historical fiction WiP Who By Fire (I got side-tracked in March ’21 by Do Better…):
I began writing this historical portal fantasy novel in June, 2020, when certain characters would not let me alone, and my ancestors seemed to demand that I write.

My current Work In Progress: Who By Fire: I Will -Book 1
Who by Fire: I Will is a historical fantasy novel cycle trilogy.

Tagline:
“Forever is a very long time.”
Logline:
To save his son, a desperate escaped slave must make a choice, but the price is eternally high.
The hero (aka the Protagonist) is an escaped slave, who dreams of buying his wife Lucy’s freedom and moving North with her and their son.
His particular friend is a Free Person of Color, one of the main characters, devoutly Christian, who teaches at night, and dreams of visiting Damascus as part of his Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, before he dies.
Progressive Jewish abolitionists befriended and struggled beside members of the Black community over the years in the United States, even during the period of chattel slavery. M. is one such man standing with both Free People of Color, like our hero’s particular teaching friend, and with slaves.
Next planned novel:
Working title might be “Concussions and Conversions: a family’s journey from triumph to tragedy in Oklahoma” … based on the story of my gr gr grandfather Wayne Anthony Manzilla, and how his murder affected his wife, mother, siblings and 5 children, down through right to my generation.
I look forward to your thoughts.
Shira

I think I screwed up my post. As I said we apparently share some background. I am USCGA ‘69. No women then. One person of colour. Lots of misogyny, racism, and narcissism. Good luck with the Project.

Hey, BlackOxford! Thank you, Michael, for coming over here from GR!!
Coast Guard, ’69! The year I was born! Wow, I can only imagine what it was like then! Reading ‘A Sense of Honor’ made me realize that things at Annapolis could have been even worse! And the misogyny and racism, I thought I was prepared for. Somehow, Civil Air Patrol and Jr. ROTC left me completely blindsided by the narcissism when I got there.
Did you find the 5th Draft page for Do Better?

I hope that you get this reply, as I have lost the link to your other blog: the manual for Project Do Better is at last done, with thanks for your encouragement, and ready for review, and for passing on to communities who may wish to make it their own (which is why I insisted on releasing it freely via CC copyright).

This post needs reworking, and perhaps adding the nonfiction part of the grid from the publications page
