Still! Not Wednesday, but Do Better: 3rd draft is (a re-write!) done…

For those who are interested,  especially Beta Readers, I have finally finished my book for  Project Do Better, formerly known as Baby Acres, or Baby Floors, though the formatting still remains to be fixed.  I had a little technical problem, which I managed to fix, but seems to have nixed part of my dictionary for spell checking, so I’ll do that before finishing my fourth draft.  (update:  click here for the freely available book, and the editable document available upon request for communities wishing to edit their own versions of the Do Better Man.)  DoBetterCover

I’m still posting the rough draft sections so that when I post the update draft excerpts or comments, there will be a line of progression to follow, to help me track my own craft learning and writing process.

Feedback on the chapters can most easily be commented upon here, for

the Preface and Intro, through chapter 1,

chapters 2-4,

chapters 5 and 6,

chapters 7 and 8, and

the last three chapters, 9-11.

Action Prompts:

1.) Would you be interested in reading and commenting on a draft copy of Do Bettter?  If so, let me know in the comments, here, please.  I’ve posted the link to the PDF above.

2.) Share your thoughts on how continuing empathy-building cooperation might help, or hinder, inclusive thinking.

3.) Write a story, post or tweet that uses those thoughts.

Stayed on Freedom’s Call
includes two ‘imagination-rich’ walking tours, with songs, of Washington, DC. New interviews and research are woven into stories of old struggles shared by both the Jewish and African-American communities in the capital city.

Shared histories are explored from a new perspective of cultural parallels and parallel institution-building which brought the two communities together culturally and historically.

Please leave a review, if you can, on this page.

  1. Ok, I think I’m finally going to drop the idea of shopping this book to publishers or agents: no one will agree to publish hard copies if the electronic version is going to be free. Even publishers that let authors keep the electronic rights to their own pdfs still do that after the fact, I now understand.
So, at least I am spared the marketing plan (I’d already finished most of the book proposal…).
