Spanish and serving Sundays: BeWelcome, like SERVAS, but cheaper?

Here is what I posted some years ago about a couple of world peace building through travel organizations, similar, I guess, to what Couch Surfing started out to be, in theory:

I just found a group that is much like Servas, which I joined in 2004.  They seem to share the same goals of building a more peaceful world through non-violence and meeting others.

I am happy to have found BeWelcome, which seems to be in line with the ideas of Non-Violent Communication,  and hope to volunteer my time, as soon as I have found a paid position teaching Mathematics!

So, it turns out that I helped host a BeWelcome guest from Columbia, a law student in DC for the week of AU’s conference, and was very glad to help him get to seminars and navigate DC.  Though he spoke a good bit of English, much of his spoken English was a bit difficult for folks to understand, so he sometimes asked me to interpret for him, which I did gladly.   I hope that he becomes one of the many future advocates for peace and full justice in our world, as he progresses!  More on my continuing striving in various dialects of Spanish next week, friends:

Yassas,   γεια σας!    Salût !  Nos vemos!  Görüşürüz!     ! שָׁלוֹם

Action Items in support of literacy and hope that you can take right now:

1.) Search for two different resources to translate the word “Hello” into both Latin American Spanish and European Spanish (Castillian).

2.) Share them with us in the comments, here, please.

3.) Share your thoughts on how you like each of the resources you found,  perhaps as an update on your GoodReads reading,

4.) Write a blog post or tweet that uses a Spanish word, tells a good story, and makes a difference. I’m working on that through my historical fantasy #WiP, #WhoByFireIWill. Once published, donate one or more copies to your local public library, as I intend to do.

Dear Readers, any additional ideas toward learning, especially multiple #LanguageLearning as part of on-going education and empathy-building, to #EndPoverty, #EndHomelessness,  #EndMoneyBail & achieve freedom for All HumanKind?
