Language is not only for communication but also expresses ones culture, traditions, outlook on life and above all the soul of that person. If we learn a new language, we are not only learning words, phrases and grammar, but either consciously or unconsciously we also learn tolerance of others. Words in any language are powerful but can get lost in translation. Learning another’s language enriches our life by making the world a smaller and more comfortable place with the ones we share it with.
Getting more involved in local politics seems to be a really good idea in most places in the world. I’m thinking of doing so myself, but am more in the exploratory phase on this.
Local levels are where most on the ground policy decisions are made, although there is an interaction with higher level policy-makers, of course. More empathetic folks in politics at all levels would be a big help, so thank you for exploring the idea!
I’m more thinking about going to city council meetings once a week for a while and see what’s going on. Don’t think I’d be competent enough to run myself yet.
I love that key word: yet!
🙂
And thank you for looking in on your local city council meetings -we need all of the eyes and ears and voices we have!
Stay safe, and
thank you, again!

Shira

Thank you, this is exactly what I’ve been wondering, hoping, and arguing for years now.
By learning another language, we learn empathy for another way of thinking.
Many many thanks for reading and commenting here, Tony,
